Robyn Anderson has represented policyholders in their insurance coverage claims and disputes for more than 20 years. At the forefront of her practice is environmental insurance coverage litigation, wherein she has helped clients across numerous industries recover millions from insurers under their historical general liability policies. An author of Environmental Insurance for New Appleman on Insurance Law, Robyn is recognized as a leading insurance lawyer by numerous organizations including Benchmark Litigation and Missouri/Kansas Super Lawyers. Robyn’s policyholder work over the decades has also extended to insurance claims for toxic tort or asbestos liability, organization liability for alleged sexual misconduct, business interruption claims under commercial property insurance, additional insured and contractual liability coverage disputes, errors and omissions coverage for business disputes, and product recall and contamination claims. And, more recently, Robyn is excited to join the firm’s Civil Rights Insurance Recovery practice group, which helps recover financial restitution for exonerated prisoners from insurance carriers representing the public entities that wrongfully prosecuted and imprisoned them.

Aside from coverage claims and litigation, Robyn advises clients through all aspects of their coverage inquiries and needs. Through policy archaeology she helps clients find old, missing policies. Through policy reviews, she helps clients detect potential gaps to be filled before a claim arises. And, she helps clients review current coverages to make sure they comply with contract specifications.

Outside of her extensive property and casualty insurance work for policyholders, Robyn is equally experienced in handling ERISA and employee benefit litigation for employers, insurers and claim administrators. She has defended hundreds of cases throughout the country, with notable experience handling disability, retirement, and life benefit cases in the Sixth, Seventh and Eighth Circuits. She expertly and efficiently advises clients with respect to benefit disputes, regulatory inquiries, alleged fiduciary breaches, ERISA preemption and ERISA disclosure requirements.
